"20 Years - Two Generations of Artists at Red Gate"
As part of Red Gate Gallery's 20th Anniversary celebration, "20 Years - Two Generations of Artists at Red Gate" will open in Shanghai at island6 Arts Center on September 9, 2011.
Since opening its doors at the Dongbianmen Ming Dynasty Watchtower in 1991, Red Gate has been recognized as a pioneer, deeply engaged in the promotion of the Chinese contemporary art. Over the two decades, Red Gate has exhibited the best of contemporary Chinese art and is proud to witness the maturation of Red Gate artists, many of whom have been exhibiting with the gallery for almost two decades.
20 Years - Two Generations of Artists at Red Gate showcases the works of 29 Chinese artists where eleven senior Red Gate artists each nominated his or her artist of choice. As a symbolic gesture, the works of the two generations of artists will be exhibited side by side to celebrate the achievement of one generation and to herald the promise of the next generation. This eclectic and meaningful exhibition will showcase a diverse range and medium of works reflecting the dynamic and ever-evolving art scene to include paintings, works on paper, photography, sculpture and installation.
The participating artists include: Chen Qingqing + Song Ying , Guan Wei + Wu Daxin, Li Gang + Zhu Yu, Liu Qinghe + He Zubin, Lu Peng + Hang Chunhui, Su Xinping + Zhu Peihong, Tan Ping + Chen Chen, Wang Lifeng + Xie Fujin, Wang Yuping + Chen Ke, Zheng Xuewu + Li Xiang, Zhou Jirong + Kong Liang. Alongside this exhibition will be new works by artists who have joined Red Gate in the last few years: Chen Yufei, Han Qing, Island 6, Jiang Weitao, Shi Zhongying, Xie Guoping and Zhou Jun.
A soft opening will take place on 6th September, 2011, at 7–9pm during the m50 joint opening with ShanghART, Studio Rouge & others.
The VIP vernissage will be at island6 Arts Center, Shanghai on September 9th between 7-9pm and the exhibition will be open to all after 9pm. Exhibition will run through September 25th 2011. |
