“Blood-Money & Bitches”

A man named Henry Ziegland broke up with his girlfriend in the summer of 1858. Wholly engulfed in grief, she took her life shortly afterwards. Her brother decided he would kill Henry to exact revenge on his fallen sibling, so he hunted him down in a park and shot him. After believing he had shot Henry dead, he turned the gun on himself and committed suicide. However, Henry hadn’t been killed by the brother’s gunshot, merely grazed. The bullet scuffed his cheek and lodged itself deep into a tree close behind him. Year’s later Henry returned to the same spot to cut down the tree to retrieve the bullet. The giant oak proved far too big for an ax so he decided to blow it up with dynamite. The explosion sent the bullet flying out of the tree and straight into Henry Ziegland’s head, killing him immediately.
In 1858 a man named Robert Fallon was shot dead by his fellow players during a game of poker that got heated after he was accused of cheating to win a $600 pot. Shortly after killing him, they found a new player to take Fallon’s place at the table and staked him with the dead man’s $600 (which no one else was willing to take). By the time the police arrived to investigate the killing, the new player had quadrupled the dead man’s winnings. The police told the players they would need the original $600 to pass on to the deceased’s next of kin – only to discover that the new player was the next of kin. He was the dead man’s estranged son who hadn’t seen his father in seven years and thus barely recognized the dead man still awash in blood laying on the floor.
If you’re ever in the Philippines and happen to go to a karaoke bar, you won’t be able to sing My Way by Frank Sinatra. It won’t be on the machine. It is banned from almost every single Karaoke bar in the country due to the inexplicable amount of people who have been murdered while singing the tune (while at a karaoke bar in the Philippines). That is all. There’s no explanation for that… it is simply a fact. None of the murders are otherwise linked and have thusly been dubbed the My Way killings. [...Read more ↓ ]

G.K. Chesterton once wrote that “The criminal is the creative artist; the detective only the critic.” Crime has surely cemented its place among history books and pop culture much the same way movies and celebrities have: a strange background noise we all have to reckon with on a daily basis. Crime takes all forms and doesn't have any boundaries to speak of. So, it's no surprise that we are all stunned again and again by the acts that people commit...and of course, why they committed them.
Blood Money & Bitches is a hearty cheers to the criminal and the detective in all men and how those sides clash and come alive, especially after the sun sets. The worst thing you could do in this world might just be to commit a crime without any style so come join us for a criminally good time, we swear we’ll give you a good alibi. (read more >>>)
