We don’t need this many employees but you have to admit it looks good. We got all these extra uniforms so we might just as well put bodies inside them and get those bodies to pace around the store. I know they don’t do much but they all have phones so they look busy…sort of. A customer might think they’re texting another employee about a work-related issue or dealing with the electricity bill or something like that. Although they’re probably playing fruit ninja or some other horse shit they’re doing their part to help us project the right image: competence and success. When someone comes in to buy something they need to know there will be a helpful employee within three steps of them in any direction at all times. We even ensure the customers know this by making our staff cheer and yell positive slogans about the company. They love it. And we love it. And customers love us. And everything’s great. [Ryan Nimmo]
