"Far Beyond the Firewall"
For island6’s 58th exposition, the artists have decided to explore cultural discrepancies which have flustered foreigners as much as locals. Anecdotes take central place as stories are told of incongruous encounters and happenings that counter the China we have all come to expect. From European delivery boys/business entrepreneurs to the Chinese fascination for dogs and reversed concepts of politeness, moments of pure deliriousness are captured in these New Media Art installations. Through these, a sense of an ever-changing culture, increasingly influenced by Western society, yet without its comical moments we learn to love and laugh at will be given. In "Far Beyond the Firewall", LED displays and interactive pieces will help take the viewers on a trip beyond stereotypical China. |

relevant and meaningful. Far Beyond the Firewall is a call to arms from those who balance precariously between two distinct worlds – from modern deliriousness to simple living. (read more >>>) |
