Guan Yan 官彦
Guan Yan came upon island6 at the SH Contemporary Art Fair 2012 and was mesmerized by one of our furniture artworks, The Dualism of White and Black. The gutsy girl from Chongqing then got hold of our flyers and emailed us - talk about passion!
Yan set her heart on a career in the creative industry, and so majored in Sociology in Shanghai, then went on to study Communication in Melbourne. Afterwards, she travelled and lived around China, stopping in Shanghai, Beijing and Xiamen, delving into the advertising, magazine and art sectors.
Ever since joining island6, Yan has proved herself indispensable with her cool, collected demeanour and razor-sharp organisational skills. She has co-ordinated island6's The Cat that Eats Diodes, The Open Sky exhibition in Chongqing, Need.Want.Hunt. and Body-City-Mechanism as well as assisted in the artwork production for shows in Hong Kong. Yan brings to the team her PR and marketing experience, gallery know-how and effective bilingualism.
Yan is a proud volunteer at island6.
