So this guy Halaaniani was a surfer and whatever. He was like really good at it and all. He couldn’t find a surf babe to ride around with though, it was such a bummer. There was this one absolutely bomb-ass surf babe, I mean a total knock-out island girl. Laiekawahe was her name, and maaaaaan could she ride a wave. The only problem was that she already had a dude: Chief Kekalukahiouokawa. Chief was a big muscly ass dude, a real heavy hitter. Halaaniani thought about how to snatch his girl up but was totally stumped. He wasn’t all that big really so he didn’t stand a chance in a fight. He was smart but couldn’t sweet talk her away from her man. He knew he had to have her though, and he decided he’d win her the only way he knew how: by surfing the biggest wave in the ocean. They paddled out together on a storm swelled afternoon and he told her to watch. He watched a few waves pass by and then he saw it, the wave that would win him glory, the dragon he had to slay. He paddled as hard as his shoulders would let him and he stood up. It was the beginning of the longest ride of his life. [Ryan Nimmo]
