Lev was born and raised in the United States, and was lucky enough to have had a fairly liberal and supportive family who consistently encouraged his pursuit of the arts. Growing up, he quickly became adept at first violin, then classical and jazz piano as well as guitar, bass, and drums in his later years. He enrolled at Northeastern University to study Music Industry, graduating in 2009 with a minor in Business as well. His music experience diversified and solidified during these years, as he tried his hand at DJing and electronic music production, all while continuing to perform with various bands and musical groups around the Boston area. But soon enough, having always had a taste for adventure and a desire to live outside of the States, Lev made his way over to China, settling on the east coast where he has resided for the past five years. Always living “an interesting life”, to quote an old phrase, Lev’s career in China has been extremely diverse and colorful - from shooting an episode with HBO Vice and performing in front of thousands of people at music festivals to pretending to be a fake breast expert and everything in between (including drinking snake baijiu!). Recently he settled down in Shanghai having lived in a nearby town for the last few years but unable to resist the siren’s call of the big city any longer. When not working at Island6 composing music and sound design (or at one of his several other jobs) you might find Lev free diving, cooking up a mean curry, dreaming about deep water soloing, or just trying not to drink too much coffee.
