BLURB

Hula-ing your way to success is not so difficult. First, your torso and legs should be firmly grounded; unmovable. Visualisation helps. Think of an oak tree, or your boss when you're asking for a day off. At the same time, keep your midsection and hips fluid. Your wobbly abs and jelly-like hips are what you need to keep the hoop spinning. A few more things - posture is important! Keep your spine straight. Momentum matters. Feel the centrifugal force. Feel your muscles working. And of course, persistence. Practice! Oh, you'll probably get it someday. But as I stand here, barking out these unhelpful suggestions while you despondently pick the clattering hoop from the ground yet again, the disconnect between intent and reality seems to grow ever wider. Maybe you're just not meant to hula. That's alright; put the hoop down. Shall we dance? [Loo Ching Ling 吕晶琳]
