How would you dance if the lights were out and no one could see you? In this work, Liu Dao turns off the lights on its usual LED-punctuated style and pays tribute to the movement started in Melbourne that has since gone global, taking in New York, Berlin, London and more, where people up for the music and unhinged movement let loose in a completely darkened room. Deprived of your sense of sight, every other sense attunes and heightens, taking over your body, directing you to be led by instinct, propelling you to let go. No pretention, no competing for attention, just fine abandon. Here, Liu Dao’s dancer twists, throws hair and limbs into the action, skin tingling as she feels the space around her, reveling in the release, worldly cares at her heels as she spins in the thick, warm black.
