BLURB

In “Wham Bam Thank You Ma’am” Liu Dao experiments with the coarsening effects of the cartoonusage of the onomatopoeiain combination with elements of the Chinese written language. The barking threats of the painted military tank over innocently, un-assuming rice paper, are underscored by the imaginary echoic “BANG, BANG (嘭!)” LED emanations from the canon.  Such elements lend the work an irresistible force, while at the same time, contribute a disturbing ambivalence.  Neither a gunner nor potential victim is visable, no dubious human touch to instigate a reaction.  By such means, only an idea of the violence or consequence is suggested, leaving the story to be told only through the mind of the viewer.
