Meng Ni Beh 马明妮

Meng Ni Beh is a London based artist, born and raised in Malaysia. A Fine Art graduate from Chelsea College of Art & Design.
She draws inspiration from her everyday surroundings and works with urban structures to create site-specific installations. Photography has become another key medium in her recent work.
In today’s globalised world, she is interested in how artwork can be ‘dematerialised’ and ‘rematerialised’, producing locality in a global context as well as material transformation in response to the site specificity of a place.

On the Move is a project started in London and the plan is to continue the project in different cities across the world with the aim to explore how artwork can be exported and be applied in a different context, within the same global network.

In Shanghai On the Move, the focus is on the ‘here and now’ of Shanghai, raising questions about how we occupy and inhabit spaces and also how we adapt to new environments in our everyday life.
