MiL Institute Visits island6
On Wednesday, September 5th 2012, 15 business professionals from MiL Institute made their way down to island6 as part of their business leadership training programme. Katharina Billing of MiL Institute had approached the island6 collective with the intriguing suggestion that we should present a group of business professionals with a real-life issue that the collective faces, and give them a day to work on it. She picked island6 because our unique artist-run studio and showroom approach offers an interesting challenge, and also because she enjoyed the new media techniques we fused with traditional Chinese arts. And so, a group of lovely Swedes and Norwegians spent a whole day with us, working on suggestions to improve our marketing strategies and raise our profile within the art-loving community in Shanghai. Amongst them were business consultants, trainers, lecturers and entrepreneurs. At the end of the day, the group made a presentation to some members of the island6 team. Not only did they give us innovative, achievable ideas about expanding our outreach strategies, they also offered suggestions on tightening the workflow and distribution of tasks to achieve optimal efficiency. We were greatly inspired, and also impressed by their perceptiveness! MiL is one of the largest leadership development training and consultancies in Europe, and has worked with clients like Volvo, IKEA, Maersk Line and Danske Bank. We are glad of the opportunity, and look forward to their next visit.
