“Wait a Moment”
Whew! We really need to catch our breath here at island6. No rest for the wicked Liu Dao! In addition to a hectic late-summer schedule, from August the 22nd to September the 22nd, Liu Dao boasts two new multimedia works on display at the trendy Shanghai Cachet Boutique Hotel on Nanjing lu.
The interactive exhibition, "Wait A Moment," curated by Mil Wang, examines the inevitability of the ubiquitous "waiting game" that is life. The middle area between patience and frustration, the seemingly perpetual queue. As Wang notes, "Nobody really likes to wait, but who does not desire more time to reflect?"
With the main goal in mind to inspire the audience to take a pause and think, "Wait A Moment" examines different cultural notions of "waiting" across time and space. Liu Dao's signature mixture of traditional media blended with the newest in contemporary technology speaks to the temporal notions of the exhibition quite well. "Macaw's Parable" & "Suffer for Fashion" are displayed alongside works from artists such as LLND, Thomas C. Chung, Alexandre Ouairy, Yu Xiangming, Meng Yangyang and Shen Na.
