BLURB

Hanging out your clothes to dry in the sun and wind is great, but leave them out too long and the color will start to fade. I learned this when I was young. Mother always took me outside with her when it was time to do laundry and teach me little life lessons. I used to love playing with the old wooden clothes pins, pretending they were alligators opening their huge jaws. I even drew faces and teeth on some. They liked to bite my fingers. Mom said alligators don't like to eat people. And I especially loved when a big gust of wind came blowing through the sheets, making a rumbling thunder sound as they fluttered. I wondered if someone pinned me up there if I would blow in the wind too. Mom said they don't make clothes pins big enough to hold me, so she lifted me up and twirled me around just so I could see what it would feel like. I got so dizzy I couldn't even walk straight! It was fun but I think I like it much better down here. “These two feet,” Mom told me, “belong right here on earth.” [Jackson McHugh]
