BLURB

I was born 20 centuries ago in ancient China, Sichuan Province. I do not remember my beginning. All I know is that my worldly possessions were a small vase that traveled with me through the centuries and a scroll with my name: Li Xiaofeng 李晓烽 Trying to make sense of my never-ending youth, I wandered distant lands and spoke to wise men. I was given no answer to my questions so I kept going. I have been to the East, West, North and South. To avoid heartbreak, I forged brick by brick the “Great Wall of Me” separating myself from the rest of the mortals. But one by one, as the loneliness raged, the bricks fell leaving me defenseless against human nature. So I fell in love. I loved over 50 times.  And my heart which once was mine, belonged to many, many others. I buried my wives and children and their children. And although distraught by their death, I felt content as they all led happy lives in this world, and I grew jealous as they departed it.
