Over the past few months, the island6 art collective had been in talks with the staff of Emotion, a branch of the ad giant Saatchi, about participating in a showcase as part of the Chivas collective at the historic and glamorous Three on the Bund. Hosted in the Shanghai Gallery of Art, Chivas invites the creme de la creme of Shanghai to attend a multi-disciplinary experience, inviting its patrons to enjoy a fusion of exquisite cooking, mixology, performance and art that represent the best creative endeavours of the city, in a glitzy and glamorous environment. Amongst the celebrities invited as part of the event were Tony Chambers of Wallpaper Magazine giving a keynote speech; Wong Kar Wai showing a private screening, André Saraiva & Lionel Bensemoun from Le Baron, the chefs from Noma...
Que du beau monde!
Liu Dao, for its part, was given a full section of the event space to invite the audience to participate in the live creation of its art. Armed with cameras, wigs, handcuffs and chroma-key screens, the islanders interrupted the haggard (yet curious) patrons, inviting them to be in an inebriated state in a Lamborghini or a Hong Kong Taxi.
