"In Harmony we Part" (向化龙溪飞去)
"In Harmony we Part" by island6 Art Collective (Liu Dao)
// BLURB //
She didn’t want for much. A princess of the oldest kind, Shiyi had collected treasures from far and wide. Smooth jade talismans cool to the touch, silks that ran between fingers, and the imposing vases that lined every room she could ever remember. Memory, that most intangible and most important thing. Memory was never an issue for Shiyi. Her memories fluttered and dipped above their porcelain prison, waiting for her to recapture them. “Be nothing, Shiyi,” the philosopher had whispered through dusty lips. She couldn’t be effortless. She had a restless heart, red in tooth and claw. Bewitched by the lure of nothingness, Shiyi plucked those scenes and words most dear to her heart, and set them loose out into the night. They flew over Huanglongxi and down the Wide and Narrow Lane, but they could never leave her. She sometimes paused to watch their lazy flight around the vessel, but she never reached out to them. Memories live their own lives, and they had grown apart. Still, they watched her, and knew someday that she would call them back. They always had been and always would be, and they would wait for her.
