She had been warned not to go near it, yet here she stood. Lilly stepped into the dilapidated garden and wound through the curious collection of foliage. Deep into the abandoned property, she reached her destination. An arcane looking red tree at least twice her height sat diligently in the faint wind. “Be careful,” they had warned, “Many have ventured never to return from that path.” She watered the tree and began to think how silly and foolish everybody was. What was the harm in watering one strange plant. The tree lit up with delight as Lilly began to water it. Lilly began to feel excited by the beauty of the tree. Too excited. In fact, Lilly’s nervous system was out of control. Lilly died from a deadly toxin produced by the tree’s leaves which was carried to her by the wind. Some say, at night, you can still see Lilly watering the strange tree while happily ignoring her townsfolk’s advice.
