"Choose Your Gutter" (选择你的沟)
"Choose Your Gutter" by island6 Art Collective
// BLURB //
Organs are ugly. A mishmash of fleshy squiggles grotesquely fused together with blood and vessels. Biology marvels at the perplexity of the body but would the sight of organs spilling into the gutter revolt you? Sinewy veins wrapped around flesh. Bowels neatly intertwined with intestines and twisted into morbid shapes piled up with last night’s trash. No corny horror movie could prepare most people for their first dalliance with that sort of scene. Humans, by their very nature avoid all things ugly. We waltz around as if there's nothing beneath our finely attended-to coat of skin. But don’t we all do this? Avoid all those ugly parts of ourselves and hope to God no one else catches sight of them. Dark secrets, addictions, sexual perversions and unspeakable thoughts. These parts all lie in wait, whether you acknowledge them or not. So you tell me, what makes your stomach churn more? The carnage in the gutter that's real or the kind that sits inside your thoughts?
