The theory that events are caused randomly or sporadically with many possibly infinite alternative futures or potential outcomes is known as indeterminism. Through this perspective life would be comparable to an unpredictable, stirring, up in the air jazzy dance routine, with plenty of twists and turns, pirouettes and jetés! In L'homme Machine (1748), French philosopher Julien Offroy de la Mettrie mentions, "Perhaps, the cause of man's existence is just in existence itself? Perhaps he is by chance thrown in some point of this terrestrial surface without any how and why". It’s possible there is no specific rhyme or reason to a particular cause more than simply chance itself. It’s human nature to desire to find meaning or purpose. Absurdist philosopher, Albert Camus taught that the “absurd” is the conflict between our tendency to want to attribute meaning and our inability to do so with any certainty. We should simply embrace this daft condition and sway to the tune of the moment. Join me on the ridiculous dance of life; shake, leap and prance! Who knows what’s in store for you next!
