"Sacred Fragility" (神圣的脆弱)
"Sacred Fragility" by island6 Art Collective (Liu Dao)
// BLURB //
How you turn a building with whitewashed walls into heaven and their potteries into impayable artworks is magic, but it happens every time you enter the museum. It happens in your brain, of course, as you trust the century-old edifice claiming what’s inside is somehow sacred. As the number of Ming vases is decreasing, their importance is increasing. Scattered and irrelevant pottery grow over the caretaker. Being inadvertent becomes the highest risk of destroying a fragment of memory. Her daily routine of making sure it remains timeless and untouched forever is preserving an illusion of our past. And facing this past we are full of questions. What is the original story this vase used to be part of? What in our life is going to be as important as it is? How can anything be so lucky to have the chance to represent history? How can all the meaningless fragments altogether still constitute some kind of meaning? And what’s scarier than remembering a past that never existed?
