"Tetromino Paradise" (方块天堂)
"Tetromino Paradise" by island6 Art Collective (Liu Dao)
// BLURB //
Be honest, how many hours a day did you spend playing Tetris or Breakout - game after game - frustratingly trying to shape the perfect imaginary city brick by brick? At least that’s what I was thinking as I tried to carefully line up all the pieces in the right place - the perfect city - a small virtual paradise. Similar to the “Brilliant City” known as Zhongyuan Liangwan, sky high apartment blocks neatly stacked alongside the Suzhou Creek forming an ideal small world in the middle of a bustling city. The notion of perfection becomes irrelevant once you realize it cannot be objective. Without objectivity there is no concept of truth. Without truth, the line between reality and fantasy begin to blur, like a Gerhard Richter painting. When the big picture is blurred, everything is ‘equally important and equally unimportant’. Following this line of thought there is no perfect, there is also no imperfect, there simply is. We spend so much time worrying about the right time, the right way, the right fit, we sometimes forget it’s all just a game.
