“The Eighth Wonder of The World!”... That’s what they used to call me. But alas, that was a long time ago. Nowadays I find myself traversing these narrow, crowded streets like in a Robert Morris’ Glass Labyrinth (2014). A place where we lose ourselves in order to find ourselves. Or at least that’s the aim. It’s an intriguing pursuit! In Greek mythology the labyrinth was a confusing structure built by Daedalus, father of Icarus, designed to hold the feared Minotaur. A place where the entrance is obvious but what follows is a complete mystery. There is only one correct path that leads to the exit...He never made it out though. In a way I identify with him. Misunderstood perhaps. Too big for this world. Although I must confess, I’ve grown quite fond of this concrete jungle. Tonfon Mintsyta must be higher than any tree I’ve ever climbed before! Although if you think about it, it’s all relative. I’m only considered too big when compared to something much smaller. Like a bird, or a plane, or an enchanting blonde woman! Regardless, it doesn’t matter to me. After all you know what they say, where does a 50,000 metric tons gorilla sit? Wherever it likes!
