If you’re not sure which plug you’ll need you can consult the books. The holy bible of plugs: IEC technical report TR 60083, Plugs and socket-outlets for domestic and similar general use standardized in member countries of IEC. It’s valuable information because… you know, what if you’re coming from Saudi Arabia and your BS 1363 isn’t compatible with a BS 546 standard socket that’s in your London hotel room. What then? What if you’re a German person and your CEE 7/3’s and CEE 7/4’s (not to be mistaken with the French CEE 7/5’s and CEE 7/6 sockets) don’t plug into the Italian CEI 23-50? You’ll never have any problems with mistaking a Danish 107-2-D1, standard DK 2-1a socket since with something else as they all look like tiny little faces. Be careful in Russia as they still use a lot of uninsulated GOST 7396 C 1 plugs, it’s quite easy to get a nasty shock using them. But whether you’re using a Thai TIS 166-2549, an Israeli SI 32 (IS16A-R) or a Swiss SN SEV 1011, the goal is almost always the same. Plug it in and get lit.
